D2E Support Landsec & IOSH in Safety Awareness Day
On the 22nd of February, D2E were invited to support Landsec Retail on their site visit by IOSH & Women in Safety at Lewisham Shopping Centre with the Health and Safety team at Landsec strongly agree that Vertical Transportation is up there with the highest risk plant in their centres. D2E carried out a presentation which explained, with examples, regular lift issues that arise on D2E Client sites, the near misses we report to our Clients, and how codes have evolved over time. As there are currently no escalators in Lewisham Shopping Centre, D2E were given the opportunity to showcase our Escalator Masterclass educational video, which provided useful information to the attendee’s. The session included a site walk around the shopping centre lifts, where D2E’s safety officer, Martin Fuller, explained the safe working process, including the process of verifying stop switches, the use of barriers and what should be expected from attending engineers.
Overall the day was a great success and an excellent opportunity for all attendees to share their safety knowledge.
