Paul Clements is an Associate within the D2E VT Design Team. Paul’s key responsibilities include the designing of vertical transportation solutions for new build developments and major modernisation projects; coordinating closely with the developments larger design team and stakeholders, writing of specifications, reviewing and commenting on suppliers’ designs. He also achieved Chartered Engineer status with CIBSE and is an active member of the CIBSE Lift Group Committee, where he is responsible for press and publicity.
Paul began his career at D2E as a technical support for large portfolios in 2014. He then managed various accounts of his own, looking after clients such as The Crown Estates, Regent Street Management Direct, Helix Properties, Blackstone Group, St Katharine Docks London, Lawson & Partners, and Heron International.
He has also worked on updating and improving various processes that have been incorporated into D2E's ISO 9001:2015 quality manual. These include the; A2K project management system, preferred supplier survey (PSS), RAMS processes, developing Power BI dashboards to collate and display key data and introducing sustainability reporting into the design team.
Paul has worked on several replacement and modernisation projects within the asset management team, managing them throughout RIBA Stages 1-7 and delivering them on time, within budget, and to a high-quality specification.
In 2019, Paul achieved his Masters in Lift Engineering (MSc) and published a paper on how IoT technology can be utilised within VT systems to identify faults earlier. He then moved to the design team at D2E, working on major modernisation and new build developments and has since been involved in various international and London-based developments with a focus on sustainability within these design.
Paul published a further paper on different applications of IoT technology to assist with social, economic, and environmental issues seen in the past few years. He presented this paper at the Council for Tall Buildings and Urban Habitats Conference in Chicago (CTBUH), the CIBSE Annual Seminar, and the Lift Symposium.
