On 11th November, D2E’s Cameron and Emma spent a day helping the Portsmouth University Student Placement and Employability Centre (SPEC) with a student CV checking day. As ex-students, this was an excellent chance for the D2E Associates to contribute to the university.
This event is an annual event which is run by the Faculty of Technology to help students secure placements or graduate jobs.
During the day, Cameron and Emma had 10, half hour slots with students to check their CVs, assist with cover letters, discuss interviews and offer general advice on securing a job in the engineering industry.
Emily Parry, Placement and Employability Manager at the SPEC fed back “At the end of their slot, students were asked to give three words to describe the experience, and the highest ranked ones were useful, helpful, informative, fun, productive and insightful. No negatives words were given at all!”. Since the event one of the students has been in touch with D2E’s Managing Director, Bill Evans, to find out more about the company and routes into the industry.
This type of event is critical to D2E to ensure we actively encourage more young people into our industry as well as part of our corporate responsibility.
