1 Creechurch Place

Client: BNP Paribas
Project
In November 2022, D2E were appointed by BNP Paribas Real Estate to undertake a Vertical Transportation (VT) traffic study to evaluate the performance of the lifts at One Creechurch Place. That report showed that the performance of the main passenger lifts was poor compared to industry best practice.
One Creechurch Place is a commercial office building of 25,315m2 over 17 floors, located in EC3, London. In October 2016, the building underwent a comprehensive redevelopment.
The building has 8 x main passenger lifts arranged as two groups of four lifts. A low-rise group of 24-person capacity lifts serve between the Ground and level 9, and a high-rise group serve Ground, levels 4, 6 and 10 to 17 inclusive.
One Creechurch Place had nine tenants, with the majority tenant occupying levels 4, 6, and 10 to 17. This tenant has a staff restaurant on level 15, a café in level 4, and meeting rooms on level 14.
Challenge
D2E was able to gather lift performance data with the cooperation of the lift service provider. Detailed analysis of the data allowed D2E to model the lifts’ performance and explore possible changes and alterations to the lifts’ configuration.
D2E suggested seven short term and one long term solutions that resulted in a 30% improvement in morning peak average waiting times and an 18% improvement in average time to destination in the same peak.
