D2E were instructed by Chapman BDSP to provide Vertical Transportation (VT) consultancy services for the Dubai Design District (D3), East Quarter development project for Concept and Schematic Design stages.
In the heart of Dubai, D3 East Quarter is a mixed-use development. The site is primarily residential but also includes commercial spaces, retail, amenities and two medium sized hotels. These areas sit atop a multi-level car park serving both residents and visitors. Each of these areas have been assessed separately to ascertain the Vertical Transportation (VT) requirements.
Challenge
D2E’s strategy includes for almost 100 lifts supporting population circulation, goods and refuse movement and fire life safety strategies in 32 mid-level and high-level residential cores, 3no hotels and 5no publicly accessible cores. Despite these numbers D2E limited strategy to 10no specific lift types.
